WARNING: Juror Scam

Wednesday, August 3, 2016

Warning:  Recently juror scams have been reported occurring in our district. Victims are falsely being told they missed jury duty and must pay a fine or face arrest.  Federal courts generally do not contact anyone who is a prospective juror in a telephone call or email.  Most contact between the federal court and a prospective juror will be through the U.S. Mail, and any contact by real court officials will not include a request for money, credit card numbers or other sensitive information.
Persons receiving such a phone call or email should not provide any information requested and should notify Michele Zirbs, the Jury Administrator of the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, at 304-636-1445.
